Effects of large follicle aspiration on superovulatory response of beef cows
نویسنده
چکیده
The effects of large follicle aspiration before and during superovulation on the ovarian response of beef cows were investigated using a crossover design. The removal of the largest follicle before superstimulation without assessment of functional dominance by serial examination of follicle development did not improve ovarian response. Similarly, the removal of large follicles on 1 day or 3 days after artificial insemination (AI) during induction of superovulation of cows had no effects on embryo quality. The removal of large follicles on 3 days after AI had detrimental effects on the number of transferable and freezable embryos. Therefore, this procedure appears not to be beneficial on improving the numbers of embryos available for transfer following superovulation of cattle.

Improvement of Superovulatory Response and Pregnancy Rate after Transfer of Embryos Recovered from Japanese Black Cows Fed Rumen Bypass Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids
Feeding rumen bypass polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) affects to Japanese Black cows affects their reproduction, though its influence on superovulatory response in donor cows and conception in recipient cattle has not been well studied. Here, we investigated the effects of feeding PUFA to Japanese Black cows on blood biochemistry, the numbers of ova and embryos or transferable embryos and pre...
متن کاملRelationships between the number of small follicles prior to superovulatory treatment and superovulatory response in Holstein cows.
In order to determine relationships between the number of small follicles prior to superovulatory treatment and superovulatory response, a total of 55 superovulations were induced in Holstein cows. The ovaries were examined ultrasonographically once 0-1.5 days before the initiation of superovulatory treatment. The number of small follicles 3-6 mm in diameter on both ovaries before superovulator...
متن کاملEffect of restricted suckling on the superovulatory response and reproductive performance in postpartum Japanese black cows.
The reproductive performance of postpartum cows is affected by factors such as suckling and nutrition. We investigated the effect of a restricted suckling period on the superovulatory response and the fertility after flushing in postpartum Japanese Black cows. Forty-seven postpartum cows were used in this study. At 7 days postpartum, the cows were divided into 2 groups: (1) continuous access to...
متن کاملFemale traits, ovary and follicle characteristics, and the conditional probability of normal oocyte development after superovulation of beef cows.
The proportion of transferable beef embryos obtained after superovulation, follicle aspiration, and in vitro maturation and fertilization has been small. To seek possible explanations, cows on different planes of nutrition were treated with exogenous gonadotropin and oocytes were isolated from their ovaries. The record for each oocyte included characteristics of the follicle, ovary, and cow fro...

Objective of the present study was to investigate the effect of season and dose of FSH on superovulatory responses in Iranian Bos indicus beef cattle (Sistani). Cyclic cows, in summer (n=16) and winter (n=16), were assigned randomly to three dose-treatment groups of 120 (n=10), 160 (n=12) and 200 (n=10) total mg of Folltropin-V with injections given twice daily for 4 days in decreasing doses. E...
